Magical Mustique
The title of this post says it all. At the end of the summer, I had the most magical holiday in Mustique. For those that have not heard of the private Caribbean island, it was initially founded by British aristocrat Colin Tennant after he purchased land from St. Vincent and the Grenadines in 1958. It was then sold to the Mustique Company in the early 2000s and remains as such now.
The landscape is largely untamed and lush, with white sandy beaches and exotic wildlife a plenty. As Architectural Digest notes, it has a real “free-spirited ethos”.
In amongst the rugged landscape are a number of villas - many of which were originally designed by English architect Oliver Messel (although, in recent years, more contemporary Japanese, Moroccan and Balinese style buildings have become popular). The result is a Sims like island for the rich and famous.
Here’s a quick diary of our beautiful accommodation - the palatial house and garden designed by Isabel and Julian Bannerman.
Simply beautiful!
