Taster Course Learnings
As mentioned in my blog updates late last year, I’m diving into all things interior in the hope of finding my way (eek). Taking an interior design taster course with Katie Goring of Studio Goring was one of the things that encouraged me to take the leap in this direction.
Katie has worked in high-end interior design for almost a decade, supporting some of London’s leading designers. She expertly led our intimate group through a workbook focusing on key areas such as space planning, lighting design, finding contractors and writing up building specifications. She also shared some handy tips and tricks, including opting for built in storage, as opposed to freestanding, as it provides 30% more space.
It was certainly thorough, but it was also casual and comfortable. We began over coffee, chatted over a delicious home cooked lunch, listened with afternoon snacks and finished with a glass of wine.
There was also time for a tour of Katie’s gorgeous home.
I’m not sure if Katie is offering these taster courses at the moment, but there are certainly other studios that are. I think they are a perfect splurge for anyone that wants to get a feel for interior design - whether that’s to gain confidence when decorating their own home or to understand whether they have what it takes to go that step further…
