Bali Mini Series: Seminyak
After weeks in hostels and budget hotels, Villa Anema was the ideal location for our last stop in Bali. An oasis of calm and serenity, it was the perfect place to recharge before heading home.
A lush garden that backs onto paddy field upon paddy field. Natural. Green. Colour that a photograph simply cannot give justice to.
In front of that, an infinity pool of dreams.
And then, the villa. Built so that the inside fades into the outside. The boundary isn’t quite clear. It’s open, free, limitless. Marked by neutral colours, a modern feel.
There are hints of the Hindu influences you see around the country and, indeed, around the world. It’s strange to think that a religion and its symbols have become so mainstream. Hindu artefacts can be seen everywhere – from the Lotus to the Om symbol. It’s the same for Buddhism and Christianity. Perhaps it’s important that we understanding the background of these as we bring them into our interiors. And once we have a better understanding, items like these might hold a more powerful meaning.
